Insertion Turbine Flowmeter
STM-5000 SERIES INSERTION TURBINE FLOWMETER THE SMART SOLUTION FOR ACCURATE FLOW MEASUREMENT IN LARGE PIPELINES.
The STM-5000 Series delivers accurate, cost-effective flow measurement for large pipelines with easy installation and reliable performance.
How the STM-5000 Series Works
The turbine rotor is positioned at a calculated insertion depth within the pipeline.
As liquid passes through the pipe, it strikes the turbine blades causing the rotor to rotate.
The rotational speed is directly proportional to the fluid velocity.
A magnetic pickup sensor detects rotor movement and generates pulse signals.
These pulses are transmitted to the UFT-8000-M electronics where advanced algorithms calculate:
• Fluid Velocity
• Volumetric Flow Rate
• Totalized Flow
• Instantaneous Flow
• Engineering Unit Conversion
The calculated flow value is displayed on the transmitter screen and can also be transmitted to PLC, SCADA, DCS, or BMS systems.
Why Use Insertion Technology?
Insertion technology provides a cost-effective and practical solution for accurate flow measurement in large-diameter pipelines, eliminating the need for cutting the pipeline or installing expensive full-bore flowmeters.
LOWER INSTALLATION COST
- For large pipelines, inline flowmeters become expensive because the complete meter body must match the pipe diameter. With insertion technology, only a small insertion point is required. Result: • Lower material cost • Lower installation cost • Reduced downtime
NO NEED TO REPLACE EXISTING PIPELINE
- The STM-5000 can be installed on existing pipelines by: • Welding a Tee Piece • Welding a Weldolet • Installing a Flanged Nozzle No major pipeline modifications are required.
SUITABLE FOR LARGE DIAMETER PIPELINES
- Common pipeline sizes: • 4" – 40” Line Size. The same insertion flowmeter can be used on multiple pipe sizes with proper insertion depth configuration.
ONLINE INSERTION AND REMOVAL
- A major advantage of the STM-5000 Series is hot-tap maintenance capability. Using: • Isolation Chamber • Full Bore Ball Valve The flowmeter can be removed while the pipeline remains pressurized. Benefits: • No process shutdown • Reduced maintenance cost • Increased plant availability
